Tracking and Match Scoring

When you find a promising grant in the Grant Finder, you can save it to your tracking list. AcaTrove monitors deadlines for your saved grants and calculates a match score that indicates how well each opportunity aligns with your research profile.

Saving Grants

To save a grant for tracking:

  1. Find the grant in search results or on the detail page.
  2. Click the Save button (bookmark icon) on the grant card.
  3. The grant is added to your Saved Grants list, accessible from the top of the Grant Finder page.

You can remove a grant from your saved list at any time by clicking the bookmark icon again.

Viewing Saved Grants

Your Saved Grants list displays all grants you have bookmarked, organized by deadline. Each entry shows:

  • The grant title and funding agency.
  • The application deadline, highlighted in red if it is within the next seven days.
  • Your match score.
  • The current status you have assigned (e.g., "Considering," "Preparing Application," "Submitted").

You can sort the list by deadline, match score, or date saved. Use the status filter to view only grants in a particular stage.

Updating Grant Status

As you progress through the application process, update each grant's status to keep your list organized:

  • Considering -- You are evaluating whether to apply.
  • Preparing Application -- You have decided to apply and are working on materials.
  • Submitted -- Your application has been submitted.
  • Awarded -- You received the grant.
  • Not Pursuing -- You decided not to apply.

To update a status, click the status badge on the grant card and select the new value.

Understanding Match Scores

Each grant in the finder displays a match score from 0 to 100. This score is calculated by comparing the grant's requirements and research focus with your AcaTrove profile. The scoring algorithm considers:

  • Research alignment -- How closely your publication topics and research keywords match the grant's stated focus areas.
  • Career stage fit -- Whether the grant targets your current career stage (e.g., early career, mid-career, senior investigator).
  • Track record -- Whether your publication history and prior funding suggest competitiveness for this type of award.
  • Eligibility -- Whether you meet the stated eligibility criteria such as citizenship, institutional type, or degree requirements.

Click on the match score to see a breakdown of these factors. Each factor is rated individually so you can understand where the alignment is strong and where there are gaps.

Improving Your Match Scores

Match scores depend on the completeness and accuracy of your profile. To get the most accurate scoring:

  • Upload your current CV in the Career Hub.
  • Connect your ORCID profile to import publications and grants.
  • Set your research keywords in your profile settings.
  • Keep your career stage and institutional affiliation up to date.

Deadline Awareness

Grants with upcoming deadlines appear on your dashboard in the action items section. Deadlines within seven days are highlighted prominently. This integration ensures you do not miss critical submission dates even if you are not actively visiting the Grant Finder.

Tips

  • Review your saved grants weekly. Remove grants you are no longer pursuing to keep the list focused and actionable.
  • A match score below 50 does not mean you should not apply -- it means the AI found limited overlap with your current profile. Read the grant details carefully to make your own assessment.
  • After submitting a grant application, update the status to "Submitted" so your tracking list accurately reflects your pipeline.
