Calendar Overview

The AcaTrove Calendar gives you a consolidated view of every deadline, task, and event across your research activities. Instead of tracking dates in separate tools, the calendar pulls together project milestones, grant deadlines, lab meetings, and personal reminders into one place.

Accessing the Calendar

Navigate to /calendar from the sidebar or click the calendar icon in the main navigation. The calendar loads with the current month in view by default.

Calendar Views

AcaTrove offers three view modes to suit different planning needs:

  • Month view -- The default layout. Each day cell shows up to three events, with a "+N more" indicator when additional items exist. Best for getting a high-level picture of your schedule.
  • Week view -- Displays a seven-day spread with hourly time slots. Useful for planning day-to-day work and seeing how tasks fit into your available hours.
  • Day view -- A detailed look at a single day, showing all events and tasks in chronological order.

Switch between views using the toggle buttons in the calendar header.

Navigating Dates

Use the left and right arrow buttons beside the current date label to move forward or backward by one unit (day, week, or month depending on your active view). Click the Today button to jump back to the current date at any time.

You can also click directly on any date cell in month view to switch to the day view for that date.

What Appears on the Calendar

The calendar automatically aggregates events from multiple sources:

  • Project tasks -- Tasks with due dates from your active projects appear as color-coded entries matching their project color.
  • Grant deadlines -- Submission deadlines, review dates, and reporting milestones from your grants.
  • Lab meetings -- Recurring meetings scheduled through your lab workspace.
  • Personal events -- Events you create manually, such as conference travel or writing blocks.
  • Compliance deadlines -- IRB renewal dates, IACUC review deadlines, and other compliance milestones.

Filtering the Calendar

Use the filter panel on the left side of the calendar to show or hide specific event types. You can filter by project, event type, or priority level. Active filters persist across sessions so you do not need to reapply them each time.

Color Coding

Each event category uses a distinct color: project tasks use the project's assigned color, grant deadlines appear in amber, compliance items in red, and personal events in blue. You can customize these colors in Settings > Calendar Preferences.

Tips

  • Hover over any calendar entry to see a quick preview with the event title, time, and associated project.
  • Right-click an event to access quick actions such as edit, reschedule, or mark as complete.
  • The calendar respects your timezone setting from your profile. If dates look off, verify your timezone under Settings > Profile.
