Research Analytics Dashboard
Track research metrics, publication output, and collaboration patterns with AcaTrove analytics.
Research Analytics Dashboard
The analytics dashboard provides a data-driven view of your research activity and output. Track publication trends, collaboration patterns, and key metrics over time to understand your productivity and identify areas for growth.
Accessing Analytics
Navigate to /analytics from the sidebar. The dashboard loads with your personal analytics by default. If you manage a lab or department, you can switch the scope to view aggregate metrics for your team.

Available Metrics
The analytics dashboard tracks several categories of research metrics:
Publication Output -- Number of publications by year, type (journal article, conference paper, book chapter, preprint), and status (published, in review, in preparation). View your publication rate over time and compare against previous periods.
Collaboration Network -- A visualization of your co-author network showing who you collaborate with most frequently, institutional affiliations of collaborators, and how your network has evolved over time.
Project Activity -- Active projects, task completion rates, milestone progress, and time spent across different research activities.
Document Library -- Number of documents uploaded, indexed, and annotated. Breakdown by document type and project.
AI Tool Usage -- How frequently you use AcaTrove's AI features (Paper Chat, Outline Generation, Multi-Doc Synthesis) and which tools are most valuable to your workflow.
Customizing the Dashboard
The analytics dashboard supports customization:
- Date range selector -- Filter all metrics to a specific time window (last 30 days, this year, custom range).
- Panel arrangement -- Drag panels to rearrange the layout. Collapse panels you use less frequently.
- Scope selector -- Switch between personal, lab, or department views (if you have the appropriate permissions).

Exporting Reports
Click Export in the dashboard header to generate a report:
- PDF -- A formatted summary suitable for annual reviews, grant progress reports, or department assessments.
- CSV -- Raw data export for further analysis in Excel, R, or Python.
Exported reports include all currently visible panels and respect your active date range and scope filters.
Team Analytics
If you manage a lab or research group, the team view aggregates metrics across all members:
- Total publications by the group.
- Individual contribution breakdowns.
- Shared project progress.
- Collaborative vs. solo output ratios.
Team analytics require the Professional or Enterprise tier and appropriate lab management permissions.
Tips
- Review your analytics monthly to identify trends in your output and spot slowdowns early.
- Use the collaboration network to find potential new collaborators in adjacent research areas.
- Export a PDF report before annual performance reviews to have concrete data on your research activity.
- Compare your publication rate year-over-year to track the impact of workflow changes.
