Librarian Dashboard

The Librarian dashboard helps academic librarians monitor resource usage, manage collections, respond to research support requests, and track the status of library integrations with AcaTrove.

Dashboard Panels

Resource Usage

A summary of how researchers at your institution are using library-connected resources through AcaTrove. Metrics include total searches performed, documents accessed, full-text downloads, and interlibrary loan requests initiated. Data is broken down by department and time period so you can identify which areas of the institution rely most heavily on library resources.

Collection Analytics

Charts and tables showing the health and usage of your digital collections. Key indicators include the most-accessed journals and databases, underused subscriptions, and coverage gaps where researchers frequently search but find no results. Use this data to inform renewal and acquisition decisions.

Research Support Requests

A queue of incoming support requests from researchers. Each request shows the requester's name, department, request type (literature search assistance, data management consultation, citation help, or other), submission date, and current status. Click a request to view its details and respond.

Integration Status

The operational status of connections between AcaTrove and external library systems. This includes link resolver configuration, proxy authentication services, discovery layer integrations, and any catalog feeds. Each integration shows its last-checked timestamp and a health indicator (Connected, Degraded, or Disconnected).

Recommended Workflows

  1. Respond to requests promptly -- Check Research Support Requests at least twice daily. Researchers often have time-sensitive needs, particularly around grant deadlines and publication submissions.
  2. Monthly collection review -- Use Collection Analytics to identify underperforming subscriptions. Cross-reference with Resource Usage to determine whether low usage reflects low demand or a discovery problem.
  3. Integration monitoring -- Review Integration Status weekly. A degraded link resolver or proxy service can silently block researchers from accessing full-text content.

Tips

  • Filter Resource Usage by department to prepare reports for liaison meetings with academic departments.
  • Export Collection Analytics data as a CSV for use in budget justifications and collection development proposals.
  • When an integration shows Degraded or Disconnected status, click the status indicator to view error details and troubleshooting steps.
  • Encourage researchers to submit support requests through AcaTrove rather than email so that all interactions are tracked and searchable.
